Watch Party Hosted at Ahlcon International school

“Saving a million lives” sounds like a great reason to start fighting climate change with everything we have got. On Tuesday,4TH Dec’ 2018, live broadcasting of ‘24 Hours of Climate Reality: Protect Our Planet, Protect Ourselves’ was organized in the school Conference Hall from 3:30 pm - 4:30 pm. #Ahlconintl joined an incredible 800 million households, 42 million views online in over 180 countries. Hosted by former Vice President Al Gore, the global broadcast event sounded the alarm bells on the clear and present danger that fossil fuels and climate change pose to the health of families and communities across the planet.

The largest global crisis was depicted through videos and discussions underlying the causes of environmental pollution and its disastrous consequences on human life. There were talks by environmental scientists, activists and thought leaders. Alarming after-effects of pollution like the rise of extreme weather conditions, the spread of infectious diseases, scarcity of food and water, suicide by farmers, etc were the highlights of the event. Delhi is the most polluted city in India followed by Mumbai. It was observed that a baby born in Delhi inhales the pollution which is equivalent to smoking 25-30 cigarettes on the very first day of his\her life. Humidity has increased a lot in the southern regions. Road melting is causing fatal accidents. The grounds of India are polluted by chemicals like Benzene and air with Carbon monoxide. The SDGs, SDG: 3 Good Health and Well Being, SDG 6: Clean Water and Sanitation, SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities, SDG 7: Affordable and Clean Energy were focussed as a part of the solution to pollution. It was emphasized that climate mitigation and adaptation is the need of the hour. The world’s scientists have issued a grim warning - we need to act with greater ambition and urgency to develop the solutions to solve the climate crisis. When the world comes together, there’s no challenge we can't overcome. The mission by Al Gore to catalyze a global solution to the climate crisis is a big success across the world.
